“LACK OF ADEQUATE SANITATION HAS BEEN EMERGING AS ONE OF THE BIGGEST THREATS TO HUMAN HEALTH”
BBC NEWS WORLD EDITION

Each person produces approx. 350 litres of urine and 50 litres of faeces each year. Once faeces have been dehydrated, it is in fact no more than a bucketful per person per year. With a water borne system, faeces is mixed with urine.

Thus instead of 50 litres of a heavily polluted substance (faeces), there are 400 litres. To flush away 400 litres of faeces and urine p/p/a, a further 15,000 litres of pure drinkable water is used per person per year creating 15 400 litres of sewage p/p/a.

A family of six = 92 400 litres i.e. the equivalent of three domestic swimming pools.
